It’s a little known fact that from time to time, the major organs of the body have some fairly disturbing discussions. I guess I can start this posting with “Once upon a time, the heart, brain and rectum were having a discussion. The discussion turned out to be a discussion about the hierarchy of the body’s organs.
There was virtually total accord when they were discussing the other organs such as the stomach, pancreas, liver, kidneys and spleen. As time went by the three of them then tried to rank their own positions in the hierarchy. Of course, they had little doubt that they were all at the top of the pile. But as they attempted to nail down which one was the most important, the discussion became rather heated.
The heart spoke first and pontificated about its importance as it opened its dramatic monologue with the importance, of the blood, its pressure and of course rhythm. Without the rhythm and the continuing flow, the body would die and of course the brain could not operate without the continuous supply of blood at the correct flow rate and volume.
The brain nodded in agreement with a slight look of “That’s bullshit” on his visage and then interrupted and said, without my electrical signals, you Mr. Heart would stop in a microsecond, it is not you that creates the rhythm, it is me. I listen to all the signals from all the organs and I decide what rate you must run at. None of these decisions are made by you Mr. Heart and you Mr. Rectum. simply handle the effluent that the rest of us don’t need anymore.
The rectum, decided to make a point and simply closed down.
